hatchets__ is an experimental framework for documentation, experimentation, archiving, cross-pollenating, and collaboration that sits between a contemporary art practice, a workshop (in the Renaissance sense), and architectural office, and museum archive. The aim is to allow research-led ideas and thinking to sit alongside, cross-reference, and inform freewheeling, unformatted creative outcomes that may take the form of writing, objects, multi-media collage, paintings, videos, photography, and hybrids of these media
Biography
Paolo Acuña is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice operates as fragmentary storytelling. Informed by a mixed heritage and a childhood spent moving between places, his work spans painting, sculpture, drawing, found objects, video and photography, all grounded by a writing practice that generates both conceptual direction and poetic structure. His draws on artistic and literary traditions that embrace the fragment, exploring how intuitive wandering intersects with the recurring patterns embedded in hybrid histories. His research moves through conspiracies, mass media, Ancient Greek drama and inherited family narratives, examining the ways personal and cultural memory form unstable but resonant arrangements. Often manifesting as complicated landscapes entangled with objects, drawings or textual remnants, his work proposes a shifting world in which meaning is assembled rather than fixed. Through accretion, displacement and temporal drift, the work invites viewers to consider how stories cohere, erode and reconfigure over time.
